Does the Bible establish a Prophet at the Head of the NT Church?
We have Jesus THE WORD why would anyone need to settle for a prophet
with merely "a word from God"?
- Luke 16:16 says, "The law and the prophets were until John: since
that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth
into it."
- Prophets were the Old Testament way. Now we have Jesus
and no longer need a Prophet:
Heb. 1:1-2 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in
time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days
spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things,
by whom also he made the worlds;
Jesus did not acknowledge the office of
Prophet as the head of the Church:
- John 16:13 "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He (not a Prophet)
will guide
you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative,
but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you
what is to come.
